89 Mazda B2200

As most of you know I bought Mikes truck (bagged89mazda). This is going to be my little post whoreing thread for this truck. Everything I do to it will be posted. So here we go, Starting today.

8-3-06

Today I went down to see if the battery tender chargered the battery, to my disappointment it didnt. The battery is pretty much f*cked. (taking it to advance later). So I put one of my yellow tops in there and after about 15 seconds she fired up. everything looked good and sounded ok. Next I started to trace the wires from the compressor so I could get some air in the tank. Hooked the power wire up, then the 12v wire and BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ HAHAHAHA the compresor kicked on. I waited about 5 min. took the blocks holding the truck up and started playin. I love it. Next on the paper is starting the body work. I'm going to take some pics so you all can see the progress with me. (hope nobody minds I'm doing this.)

Ok 8-4-06, 8-6-06, 8-7-06,

Looking to see why the truck is eating batteries. It just drains them one after another. dont know why yet??? Took off the 5th for Carlisle. Anyone know why this could be happening?

Alternator not charging-go to AutoZone and let them check alt.output.Dead short somewhere in elec .system.There are 4 grounds in engine compartment-battery to ground,twoplaces engine to ground ,coil to ground.Make sure all are clean,rust free and tight.Hope this helps.BJ

go get that alt off the other motor your buddy got - I DON'T Know why that alt that is in the truck now is doing that . Never had a problem with that alt on that motor prior .

bad ground maybe?

would'nt be the first time I had to fix an alternator in a mazda, most times I find Mitsubishi on them. (B22s x3 and GLCs x3)
Do yerself a favor, if you can get access to a premium alt, get it!! I had bought 3 rebuilds before I got a good one from the local auto shop.
But some shops are set up with a bench test unit to check them properly.
Check the grounds first, if that don't werk then bring it to a shop.
I have a diagnostic tool that plugs in my cig lighter and tells me how healthy my charging system is etc.
Not all mechanics are good with electrical systems, find a 12v repair shop.

Cutting up the assend to put the roll pan on. Man do I need a bigger air compressor, Its 2hp 5 gallon. I need like a 6hp 80 gallon. It takes like 30 seconds to run out of air with my air grinder.. Anyway I got the back end cut out where the new plate box goes. I'll post pics tomorrow. I should have the roll pan on as well.

Got the roll pan welded on. Just need to grind down the welds and some bondo then its done. Here are 2 pics.
