OK I knew I had a little rust on the rear of my cab BUT I get the box off to put in my new gas tank and look what I find

thread post photo

Pretty bad indeed. BUT now comes tha hard part - do I just patch it up OR do I cut the whole area out and make a sub box in the bed.??? Tuff decisions.

^^^like he said, check the frame.
rust is like an uncontrolled cancer, the earlier
you catch it the better off you are!

mine was rusting on both side of the cab, not as bad though. i patched both sides up pretty easily.
i would patch it up...unless you really want to do a walkthrough.

This one is going up !! not down.

I have checked the frame on the rear half that is exposed and all sems good so far. I will continue the inspection when I get underneath to pull the fuel tank out.

That is true BUT you have to remember old chevy and gmc stuff is heavy and doesn't rust through as easily.
