I feel so asshamed for even asking this question.. but i'm trying to decide weather i have a b2000 or a b2200. I have only owned b2600i's up until now.. and this is pretty damn sad. I already checked all the door jams, and on the underside of the hood.. and its not labled anywhere. I never really cared when i bought it.. because it didn't run.. and i just wanted a standard cab for the motor swap.. but now that i want to get it running.. and do the motorswap later.. i need to know what i'm working w/.

on the drivers side of the block, there is an identifier in the casting. "FE" is a 2 liter, "F2" is a 2.2.
Also, the 2 liter was only available for two years, 86-87. The 2.2 was available from 86-93. So if you have an 88, its definitely a 2200.
Additionally, the 2 liter upper timing cover is smooth with a bump at where the center of the cam gear would be, the 2.2 upper cover is ribbed vertically.
If you pull the valve cover, the rockers are manually adjusted on the 2.0, hydraulic ( and no adjusters) on the 2.2.
And one more, the lower timing covers are usually marked 2.0 or 2.2.
There are always exceptions, people change out parts all the time like cam covers and heads (they interchange between 2.0 and 2.2). For example, my engine has a ribbed upper timing cover and hydraulic rockers, but its a Japanese market 2.0.
