Hello to all,

I bought a 1987 Mazda B2000 LX in April, fair condition for its age. Minor repairs to get it running. Fuel gauge did not work properly. I replaced the sending unit, but now it reaches 1/4 of a tank after driving 150 miles or so. It only takes 7 gallons to refill. I think that there is a problem somewhere else. This is my first Mazda so I need some help if anyone else has had the same issue. Thanks in advance.

Welcome. I can't answer your mechanical problems, but please post pics of your truck ASAP.

Remy - I'm not sure that you actually have a problem. Looks like you're getting over 20 mpg, and the fuel tanks are pretty small on these.

Is yours a regular cab, long bed, or Cab Plus? The 3 models have different fuel tanks, and different senders.

My truck is the LX extra-cab with the short bed. I think that the tank holds 17 gallons. I may have the wrong sending unit.

A sending unit measures depth of fuel in tank on all vehicles, not gallons. Does the gauge ever read full?
