Been checking out this site for several months. I have been wanting a 81-91 crew cab dually for a while, don't need one as I have 3 trucks already. But I WANTED one lol.

So I was perusing CL and happened across an 89 locally, so I figured I'd check it out since it was 5 mins from my house, expecting a POS I didn't take any money. I got there and it was super solid, only had 1 half dollar surface rust spot on one door. There are some dents and both rear fenders were trashed from blow outs. But it was a TBI motor that only had 115k on, all windows worked, A/C worked, heat worked, had a functional remote start. So I ended up driving it home for $1000.

That was 3 weeks ago. I knew it had some brake issues, and hydroboost or P/S system had a major leak. So it now has all new balljoints, tierods, calipers/pads, hoses, turned rotors, shocks, sway bar bushings, p/s pump, hydroboost hoses, cut off factory front bumpstops, and trimmed 1 coil off the front. Still needs a gear box and alignment.

Plans are to replace rear fenders/bed do a 5/8 drop. 16" aluminum wheels or paint my stock steelies, plastidip the whole truck lighter shade of blue.

After front end work and 1 coil removed

I was considering swapping to 3/4 rear leaf pack for smoother ride, don't plan on towing much except a car trailer with it.. Can anyone tell me if there is anything that will make that not a direct swap?

just remove overload leaves from your pack and youll get same thing
