I have searched for hours looking how to recess my lower control arms for re 7's bags on my 87 C.C dulley. I was wondering if anyone had any information that would help me through this process. Im thinking of trying to use some 8 inch I.D. pipe about 3 inches long. So that the bag can go inside if it. Will this work or will i run into more problems? Any info or pics would be greatly appricated.

As long as your bag has the room to collapse inside the pipe without rubbing you will not have any problems. I would check this out before trying to recess the control arms.

By recessing are you just trying to get more drop on the truck without z-ing the frame?

yes im tryin to get as low as possible without z' ing the frame. i just got the 3 inch drop spindels the other day. i didnt want to get the spindels on and find out it not low enough. so i figured on recessing the lower arms. Lockone is there a better way of doing this?

Without buying any additional parts, no there is not a better way.

In the areas for recessing, you basically have two areas that you can do this with room permitting. The lower control arms and the upper spring pocket. The upper spring pocket may be out of the questions if you are using the flat plate upper bag mounts.

If you wanted to buy some more parts, then I would look into a set of lower control arms either aftermarket or custom made.

I'm using the plate on the upper mount also. I didnt find out how to recess the bag in the upper spring pocket. Or how to mount a cup inside. Is there a way of doing that? if so what size cup do i need to use? Thanks for all of your info.

In the past we have made a set of cups for the uppers out of 5" pipe with a 6" flat circle plate to mount the bag to (much like the newer style . To attach it to the frame we drilled a hole in the top of the rail and used threaded rod to connect it to the cup.

oh ok. Do u think im gonna need to recess the top and bottom? I have the L.C.A's out already so im going to do the cups on that. But will i have to do the top? i also plan on running 225/60/16's on the truck.

I have never done both of them on the same truck. I have always done one or the other along with a small Z in the frame.

this is how i bagged my 77 1 ton. i used a 8 3/4 inch steel pipe (outer diameter) and some re7 slam specialties bags.
if i would have had the money to buy some bigger pipe (around 10 inches). i would have used some re8 bags..
