queston on tucking square rear

what do you boys think is my best bet to lay some semis in the rear of my 87, c&c rear or shorten the axle or just get some townastys when i order my wheels? I no the c&c rear is gonna be tricky for me to find around here, but do you think it would be a better route to get townastys? and whats the average cost on a shortened axle? and no option to stretch the fenders the truck just fits in the shop door now haha.

Just depends on the amount of work you are wanting to perform. With the Cab&Chassis and the narrowed rear axle you are going to have to narrow your frame rails and move some things inside the bed. Also if your truck is already linked in the rear moving this also comes into play. Average cost of narrowing an axle around here is 700-1000 with new axles depending on your style rear axle. I have had customer getting them done in the 300-500 area around the country.

The Townasty's are built just for your truck and will bolt on with no problem.

You do not have to narrow your frame rails to run a C&C on a square.

with the townastys and a classic inner do i need to stretch the fender or will i be good? and if i'm not wrong there are a few different axles on these trucks correct? what measurements from inner drum to inner drum work?

i just put the rear under my truck yesterday...it is a 3/4 ton rear end out of a 97 2500 truck...its 8 inches shorter than the stock rear end...you cant run 16 inch inners but if you are runnin 6 22s it works great and i still had plenty of room to run the link bars on the outside of the frame...ill try to get some pics...the rear end was 100 bucks from the U Pull it yard

snapped a few pics at the shop a little while ago...the rear end come out ok a 97 2500 chevrolet truck...its 8 1/4 inches overall narrower...i worked out good on my truck so far and according to my measuring tape they should tuck 1 inch inside the fenders..had room to mount my 2 link outside the frame..here a few pics

Pig Rig will be the person to ask about running the Classic with the Townasty on a Squarebody. We put him in a set of those several years ago.

lockone. whats the difference in offset from running a 16 inner and a classic inner? if i run the 16 then i should have no problems tucking with the townasty?

Basically the only difference from running the inner 22 and inner 16 is the thickness of the mounting surfaces along with the clearance you have on the inside of the bed/leafsprings.

You will save a 1/2" by running the stock steel 16" and you will have no clearance issues with this setup.

perfect whats the proper tire size for the 16 to run with the 265-35-22? just so i can get ahead of the game and pickup a set for the 16'
