im gonna pull the 2.3 4cyl engine out of my ranger with the trans still bolted to it but i dont wanna set it on the floor and dont want to go buy a new stand...what do you guys do for engine/trans storage?
Go get a pallet from a local retail store, or build you one out of wood.
Try some unmounted tires.
Harbor Freight has what they call Movers stands. It's a square thing with a hole in the center and 4 wheels. I use to pick up engines in the back of my truck and set them on that with the pan in the hole all the time. They are like $15.
tires and pallets are good. do you wanna be able to just set it somewhere stable or flip it around and clean it? taking the trans off might be a good idea if thats the plan. then use a motor stand. the dolly works well too. ive yanked alot of motors, usually with the tranny on it.
Go get your self some casters and 2x4's. Just build a frame that will hold it all and add the casters to it so you can roll it around. 1 trip to Home Depot and you can get it all
