Does anybody know if regular ABS plastic is gas resistant? Or if it is a special material that is used in fuel cells? Thanks

Olefin materials will have a very high resistance to the petroleum. Glass-reinforced polypropylene would give the highest properties without getting exotic. High density polyethylene is used for blow molded gasoline tanks commonly; the physical properties may not be as high as you would like. Various nylon grades may have the chemical resistance you seek. Additionally, nylon presents a good barrier against transmission of petrol fumes; olefins do not. Regarding pigments, the inorganic pigments typically used in outdoor applications should have no problems with chemical fading. Avoid dyestuffs and soluble organic pigments.

Take alook at this chart, it looks like ABS rated "poor" for a 24 hr period. http://www.lati.com/en/technical_data/chemical_resistance_01.html   What about nylon?

Polyethylene is what the summit cells are made out of, you know what this is for, the big guy lol I can make the other ones out of aluminum but if I could make the big guy outa a cheeper material it might be better, cause that in aluminum will get expensive like you said. Do you ever get on AIM anymore? lol  nylon might be a good idea if i can find it in the right size lol

At the last shop we used to get nylon in very large diameters but I can't remember the price on it.

polyolefin is the only plastic I'd trust with gasoline or any petroleum product over any period of time. as a pipefitter/plumber I've had to rip out several plastic piping systems that have deteriorated from petro and other chemicals. mind you it's very prolonged use but nonetheless....
