can they be mounted any way (up,down, sideways)? just wondering cause i have heard alot of diffrent things and have seen alot of diffrent thing
I believe that most 12v compressors are oil less and in that case should be able to be mounted in any position.
some guys tell me that if they are mounted sideways they would burn up
but i have seen pics of them mounted sideways on daily drivin trucks.
im just not sure what to believe
I would say that you should call the manufacturer then. I don't have any difinitive answers for you. I have mounted Firestone compressors in every way imaginable, but I don't have as much experience with the ViAir or Air Zenith compressors.
ViAir says that they should be mounted right side up, or upside down, never sideways. Something to do with heat rising. I mounted an AZ sideways and killed it in two days.
i dont know the correct answer on this but i drove my daily for 2yrs with 2 viairs mounted sideways with no probs. id play it safe and call viair though.
thanks for all the replies i think i will go with what yal say and call the company.
I called viair once and they said stright up or on its side, but not upsidedown.
I had always heard you can mount them any way just keep the compressor lvel or above the airtank, never below the tank? who knows. lol
that might be a condensation issue. but i dont know fully.
