s10 starting

I have a 1999 s10 thats my daily driver with the 2.2L manual 5 speed. last saturday i turned it on to go to work after running for about 2 seconds it died. so i tried turning it on again and i did not have any power AT ALL no stereo no lights no abs light no service engine light nothing. so i get it jumped and it starts right away. no problems until today it does it again and i could not get it started, but i didnt jump start it so i just drove my other truck to work. so i dont have any days off so im wanting advise of where to start checking so i dont go round and round because i dont have too much free time to be messing with it. any ideas?

check ur battery post to see if they r tight and try boosting it off and then take ur battery off and see if it will still run and if nt then its ur altinator....or bad battter..

i thought about that but i wasnt sure because it doesnt do it everyday. i have to work at the parts store tom. so i guess ill check the battery and alt. make sure theyre fine if not then i guess ill move onto the wiring.

that is a start...and make sure u check all ur grounds cause a buddy of mine s-10 has the same problem and we cant find out what is making it do that, since u work at a parts store u can go get it check...

well i got the battery checked and alt checked, both are good. checked all the wiring on my lunch and the positive cable is coroted i was just not able to see it because of the shrink tubing. im going to change the positive cable and see what happens.

oh that is good...that might be the problem..lil thangs that plp dont thank about...

yep i was just hoping it wasnt the alternator but like i stated came back good so hopefully this fixes the problem thanks for your help though

check your seliniod (sorry my spelling suck a@#) at work overtime

i used to sell a lot of the battery cables for that truck its been a while since ive seen one but i know it was a trait problem so its probably it come to think of it i replaced my cable on my s10 FYI it is only on the 2.2 4.3 is a different cable
