Couple Coil Questions...

In refrence to coils, when a coil is labled "5 ton" coil, and so on with other sizes, what does the 5 ton mean?? The limit or what? And, on my first hydro setup I had the Reds 'mini coil' on the rear of my truck. It was a light import mini-truck and those coils were entirely waaay too fucking stiff. It was rediculous. What size coil would be ideal for an application like that?? My next truck will be similar but I will have accmulators w/ shut-offs, so I want it to ride good even with the accums off. I really appreciate any insight on this fellas! Thanks

i believe coils are rated in a way that is how much force it takes to compress it one inch. so like the coilover conversion kits for civics and the like usually have a 400-500lb spring. which is pretty stiff.

There is an accumulator shut off kit. (don't know if you already found one or not.)

As far as springs, 5 ton will be stiff too.. Shit everything is going to be stiff, It's hopper coils.

But main thing is ,I had the Reds Mini-coils on my last setup, and they were entirely too f-n stiff. I`m looking for something softer. I was using "5-ton" as an example, just wondering how they actually rate coils.
Heres a pic of my last setup, I`ll do something along the same lines, I just need a bit softer spring.

I think there is a 1/4 ton mini coil for the backs of trucks like yours available from Pro Hopper. I'm not sure what kind of a ride to expect tho. Maybe you can try and PM patfuckenburke on here, he has been in the hydro industry for years.

To be honest, I've never ran springs, because I do juice for the ride quality and the ability to go lower, if you don't really care for hopping, and just want an awesome smooth ride, then I strongly recommend accumulators. Which you happen to be in luck, because usually it's a pain in the ass to find a set of Parkers.
