I personally have no love for square bars. The SD kit uses 1.5" DOM tube with a 1/4" wall thickness, do I need some form of gusset under the bar to run this? The bag will be dead center on the bar if that makes a difference.

ya i knew they sold them, just wasn't sure with it being heavy wall tubing if it was needed. not a big deal if it is.

I have seen bags on the SSD round bars with no gussets on a crew cab dually towing on a weekly basis, with absolutely NO problems.

That is a tough one to answer. A round bar is not a stiff as a square bar of the same size and wall thickness (for example 1 1/2 round v.s 1 1/2 square) but the square bar will weigh aprox 30% more than the round bar. So I would either step up the size of the round bar or run a lower gusset, just be be safe. I personally don't like over built, so I would use 1 1/2 x .120 and run a nice bottom gusset.
