ok simple question that i can't get from people I know. So I am here, my 93 mazda has what for stock rear end gears 4:10 or 4:11? If I were to swap in a ford 9" with 3.73 gears would that give me a better MPG? Mainly because a friend of mine has a ford 9" built to swap under a 1/4 ton for a 100 bones and i am thinking of getting it. But mainly just would like to know about the gear thing would be great.

if your looking for a simple answer, i don't think i can give it to you. typically i run through the gear train calculations to see what rpms i would be running at what speed and what gear. less rpms = less load on engine = possibly better gas mileage.

check out rangerstation.com, this should give you some sort of an idea
