I have an extra 87 ford ranger rear end lying around.

Has anyone used one of these for the 5 lug conversion instead of a toyota axle? Any reason that I couldn't? I have yet to measure it, i was just looking for any other issues that I might run into.

Thanks!

if you do have to narrow it, you can get a short side axle and cut the long tube down 2 inches to make it narrower and center the pumpkin.(the pumpkin is off set to the pass side) AND the lug studs are a diff thread, yotas/imports are 12x1.5mm and fords are 1/2x20 thread.

I used an 87 rear end in my 88 mazda, and it fits perfectly. I'm also running a 18x7.5 with 45mm offset and a 225/40r18 tire. Yeah the lugs are the standard instead of metric, but thats it.

I didn't have to narrow it. It fit right under the bed and the wheels tucked with no rub and no trimming of the bed required.

I had used it on my hard body with no issues.. didn't have to shorten it or anything..

i heard that the box style rears are 1 inch narrower than the common toyota ones. Someone on here told me that, i forget who.
