after bodydropping my 1991 s-10 with a 2.8 v6. the hood shuts on top of the altenator. i was wondering about dropping my engine a half inch , which is all i need, without having to build new mounts. I have enough clearance between the engine mounts and where they bolt onto the frame mount bushing to do a half inch, I was just wondering if i have enough clearance between the oil pan and the front crossmember without having to section the oilpan. i figured it would be easier just to drop the motor rather than rig up the altenator somewhere else.
you already skinned the hood? if not maybe you can take 1/2 out of the inner structure.
Its hitting the bottom of the skin not the structure is whut sucks, and i don't want to cut a hole for the altenator.
the hood will close it just makes an awful rattling noise from the vibration of the altenator. i even grinded on in but couldn't grind enough off, so i was gonna just drop the engine an 1/2 inch
the alternator is on a braket? if so maybe you can just drop the bracket down. The tensioner should have enough play to work properly.
that would probly work, i have a serpentine belt, i don't know if that would make a difference
seems like that would be alot easier, the belt should be able to work but if not you could always get one made.
