Alpine IVA-W200 wont play ipod

I've got an Alpine IVA-W200 with ipod connection. I just bought my first ipod, an 80gb Classic, when i hook it up the ipod shows its charging but the Alpine just says searching. Is the Ipod too new? Is there a software update i can download from Alpine?

make sure your ipod is current on updates.

update your ipod to the latest itunes and after you plug your ipod into the alpine, reset the alpine deck.

reset the ipod, switch it to hold and back, then hold the top button and menu.
