I would (and have) use a barbed double-nipple coupler and some worm clamps.

i have tried that in the past, and never could cram the fuel line onto the barbed connector far enough. it was almost impossible since the barbed connector is slightly bigger than the ID of the hose, and the hose is hard as a rock. and i've tried heating the hose with a hair dryer to soften it and all that. it will be much harder now that its 30 degrees outside. is there an easier way to get the hose onto a barbed connector like that?

spit on it, my answer for all lubrication.

heat gun..

They sell special high pressure clamps as well for this purpose, I wouldn't hose clamp it at all.

i've tried a hair dryer before, don't have a heat gun. and it still didn't work. maybe i didn't have it hot enough. should i try to heat it longer with a hair dryer, will that work eventually, or do i have to use a heat gun?

or can i use a push to connect or compression fitting since it is hard plastic line?

good luck on that. Those hard plastic lines usually cant be fixed. A compression connector might work, but you may never find the right size.
