Surge Brakes on trailer

I just bought a 30ft enclosed trailer and it has surge brakes on it. I was wondering if it is legal to have surge brakes in Texas. I heard some ppl say yes and others says no.

yes it is also need to look into havin a insection sticker on it i had no idea u had to have one tell i got stoped by a state troper trailers over 20 ft halin over 4500 gross wa\eight have to be inspected only $23 lot better than 145 ticket

I think they are just illegal in the winter months up north, at least thats what the trailer place told me. I just bought a 18' and I had ordered it with surge breaks and I love them!!!! I would go with James and check the DMV.
