Ok I need opinions on what to do with the engine in my courier. There is no way in hell I am going to cut a hole in the hood for a b/d so as I see it now I got 2 good options. #1 I have a friend with a rotary and a transmission I can get for cheap, the rotary is a tiny ass motor and I could almost door it with a stock hood. #2 302 v-8 cool motor loud in a small truck should be able to get into the rocker an inch or so and keep the hood. I really dont care about power just want something clean and under the hood. Biggest concern about the 302 is cooling and with the rotary I hear they are problematic?sorry about the long post.

why dont you lower the motor mounts for hood clearance ?

the four banger that is in there now is tired and it is also tall as shyte, from the air cleaner to the hood now it is about 2" I would like to go an inch into the rocker which I need around 3 or so.

I like Rotary motors. And I know they are capable of a lot of power.

The 302 would also be cool if you have enough room. You can run a thicker aluminum radiator and an electric fan and probably be fine as far as cooling goes.

dont know a whole lot about the rotary motors but ive seen one in a past nissan cover truck and i was told it was slower than frozen backed up pond water. dont know which motors are capable of what but i dont think the owner liked it too much besides the fact that it was different.
