A 275/30-24 = 30.5in. and a 235/85-16 = 31.7in. That's a difference of 1.2 inches so I don't think that would work.
I'm currently running 315/30-24 (31.4in.) with a 235/85-16 (31.7) inner, Pirelli is the only company I know of making the 315/30-24, I really like this combo a lot, the width protects the wheel and it looks mean.
I was previously running a 275/25-24 (29.4in.) with a 225/75-16 inner (29.3in.) but, I wouldn't run that combo again, a 25 series tire is just too small for my crew cab big block square and I would want at least 295 width to protect the wheel. But it will work for the guy that just has to have 24's and doesn't have a lot of room.
If you have the room you could run a 305/35-24 (32.4in.) with a 285/75-16 (32.8in.) inner.

Here is a helpful link:

I have always wanted to make a site suggestion about having some sort of tire size chart for the guys running steelies on the inners. 22's with 16in. inners and 17 in. inners for the newer trucks. 24's with 16in. inners and 17in. inners for the newer trucks. 19's with 16in. inners, etc..

There isnt very many combos that you can run with a 24 and get close enough in diameter ( i prefer a +/-.10 ratio). Wide Load has hit a few of them.

In a 305/35/24 you can run a 285/75/16 but the 16 tire is very hard to find and is the common size on HD trailers (there is almost a 1/2" difference in these 2 sizes and will cause premature wear). In a 285/35/24 you can run a 285/70/16 on the inside and only have a difference of -.14". Other than these mentioned there are few other and still with many of these you will see abnormal wear. I always suggest to customers to run the 4 24s across the back becasue you will save some cash in the long run by not replacing tires as often.

ok found a perfect match.. I think?

275-30-24 general 30.5
245-75-16= 30.5 These tires are the same size is that good or does the 16 have to be bigger im just thinking that if they are the same size the better?

You want them the same size or as close as possible. The problem is that there are just not that many sizes that match us in 24s as there are in 22s. Also more than likely you are only going to find the 245/75/16 in an AT tread and not the common street tread.

There are also other factors to consider. You can have an xxx/xx-xx (xx.xin.) size tire from two different company's and they won't be the exact same size. Also too wide of a tire on a wheel will make it bulge out and act taller. I think a 235/85-16 is perfect on the stock wheels but, if you run a 285/75-16 it is going to bulge out a lot and make it act taller. My 315/30-24's (31.4in.) bulges out on my semi's which probably brings them a little closer in height to my 235/85-16 (31.7in.) inners. I would love to run 4 24's on the back of my static dropped square but, with my C&C rear the inners are right next to the leaf springs and I would have to re-do the whole rear suspension just to be able to.
