I have a 98 CC dually that I have just got my 24's for (Thanks, BTW, to Trevor for the help, info, and cutting the big holes for me ... I dont think I have seen any other cut bigger) that I am going to be bagging, flooring, and doing a lot of stuff to. Unfortunately, just less than three weeks ago I had back surgery for the second time, so I wont actually be working on it for a few more months, but it gives me lots of planning time.

Anyways, its got a 7.4 MPFI Vortec engine and the front accessories have the AC compressor on the left (drivers) side of the engine instead of the earlier non vortec accessories that have a pancake compressor on the passengers side of the engine. I am figuring on having to BD it at least three or so inches to lay body, but since the compressor is mounted high on the drivers side, it looks as if it is going to hit the hood. Does anybody on here have a big block truck with these accessories body dropped, and if so, how did you make the compressor clear?

I could put a small block in it to give me more room, or change the accessories, but I just replaced the compressor less than a year ago and I really dont want to have to toss it unless it is absolutely necessary. Either way, since I live in FL, losing the AC is not an option, so I have to figure out a way to make it work.

If anyone has this combo with a BD, please post pics as to how you made it work or give any advice you can. I am not in a rush and I have no problems taking the time and/or resources needed to make it happen, but since I have time to plan I would like to have it all figured out before I start cutting.

Thanks,
Brad

Thanks for the reply. I saw the post about his AC and York compressor and looked at the pics on Photobucket. My friend that is borrowing my truck will be getting it back to me later today, and I will have the chance then to compare my stock mount to the pics of Krewz'.

It looks like his mount is stamped, not cast. I thought that the mount was cast, but either I didnt look closely enough at it when I did, or it has been replaced with another one designed to also mount the York off to the side of it.

Mine was cast but I just cut it down and made the compressor clear then remade my own york bracket that mounts to the side of it real similar to the airlift kit. I don't have a clue on how much I lowered it though, it has been a few years. When i get some time, I am going to mount another york running a V belt of the alternator on the pass side. I am so impatient waiting for air.

On 24's you are going to have to move more crap than I did in the engine compartment, I modded my stock inner fender wells to fit with the bd and then the computer and abs bs mount on top of it, real close to what stock was.

OK, I have looked carefully at the photos, so now I feel like an ADD, innattentive imp. Obviously, the cast mount was cut and steel was bolted to what was left.

So, what I have to decide is whether I cut the original factory mount and then weld a steel plate to the original cast iron mount, or use the original mount and make a jig so that I can re-create a new mount with a lower location for the AC compressor out of steel from scratch.

Thanks for the help guys!

I was posting up when you were posting your last reply ... sorry if it sounds a little redundant. Give me long enough and I will figure out anything!!!

Yeah, I know I got my work cut out for me with a BD and 24's, but I already got the wheels, torch and welder(s) ...

Luckily, I got some 255/30/24's for tires, so that helps and if I move everything out of and away from the back wall of my garage, then I might be able to fit my truck in there with 2 inches to spare!

My main think is that I want everything to appear either "stock looking" or well thought out so that no one (mainly me) looks at it and say "man, that looks like ass".

Once again, thanks for the help.
