is there a "legal" basis for these LED strips? Do they have to be something like 8" plus or anything like that? I want to run just 2 8" led strips on each side where my stock tails are...just not sure whats "legal".

Also, where the best place to snag this size setup with everything thats needed?

to be legal, you must be able to be seen from the side.. hence why everything but a few have tails that wrap the vehicle.. stuff like caddys that dont wrap, have a red reflector in the side molding to be legal.

down here tailights have to reflect red when a light shines on them. never heard about the wrap around thing.

would the LED's not reflect? I haven't ever tried to do it, nor do I know if the lens on them are red, so I have no clue.

I want to run 2 8 inchers, or 2 5's on either side. one red, and one amber. red for tails/brakes, and amber for turn. Just need to know if theres a legal size or not.

you can get 1 row that has 3 color lenses from places.. i think AVS and grant/can do's are like that. Other then that, people like Custom Classics, i believe Mike only has white lenses, but the leds are red/ amber or white for backup. or you can get where its all red, but half blink when you turn or they all blink, then get an inch or 2 of white for backup.

yah, im not a fan of the 3 color ones. thats why i was wondering how big they needed to be, I don't want to have 3 long bars on each side. i could set 3 5" ones up nicely, but not so much the 8's.

im trying to find the laws for my state now.

no led lights do not reflect.as far as i know any led light is illegal. when used by themselves. thats why i went with the caddy lights.yea you can buy the tricolor lights. as mentioned call avs and ask for chris, she knows whats up.

what I was talking about are all 1 bucket.. so you wouldnt have 3 rows.. just 1.

im wondering if there are any year restrictions for the whole reflection thing. my truck doesnt have lights that wrap around, but they have seperate reflectors...

i know like pre 87 or something like that doesnt need a 3rd brake light..

maybe i misunderstood you, but i thought you were talking about 2 different setups i could run. the 3 color single row, and then 3 seperate pieces.

my truck has an indention for the stock light and it makes a body line on the tailgate. i want to run (3) 5 inch leds on either side, as I could then make them "stepped down" or whatever. The 8 inch ones done that way would be far too big.

Im not a fan of the single row, 3 color ones is what i meant.
