where you guys getting your 22" alcoas balanced? i can balance wheels at work, but im not sure where to put the weights on the rear wheels. anyone here balance their own?
Knock on weights work the best but there is a better way depending on the applications.
With knock on weights you will need to use a static balance so that there will not be an exposed weight on the lip of the wheel.
You can also use stick on weights and/or Equate powder (about 32 grams for a 22).
i was going to use tape weights on the fronts, but the rears i wasnt quite sure. the equate powder ur talking about...is it the same as balancing beads? ive been looking into that stuff and it sounds like good stuff from what ive read. you use it? hows it working out for you?
The Equate is more of a powder where the balance beads look like small ball bearings. We use it on certain applications like the low profile 22s and 24s that dont have much of a sidewall. At low speeds you get a bit of vibration until the media is dispersed and find the low spot on the inside of the tire.
