I just sold my 2000 Chev 2wd that was on air so I bought a new truck that will handle a bigger trailer. I want to put 22.5's on it and set it up for towing. What size of tires would you guys recomend? Have any pictures of them installed on a 4x4 with STOCK suspension?
The info:
06 GMC 3500 dually,4x4,stock suspension,will be pulling 40' race car trailer(15-17 000lbs),rear "helper"bags,Banks dual exhaust,PPE programmer,Banks air box,NADP trans mods,

The smallest size 22.5" tire you can get is 36" tall. I think that would be a little bit much with no lift. If you mill the wheels and run 22" tires you will have more selection, but I have no idea what size.

Thats what I was thinking.... I would do a leveling kit at the most.My trailer is fairly low and if I go too high with the truck it will be to close to top of the box.22's might be the way to go if I can find 10 ply tires?

With a 255/70/22.5, you are going to need to put the 3" leveling kit on the front to get your turning radius and with that it still rubs a bit.

With 22s, I would suggest a 305/45/22 which is 32.8" tall and close to the factory tire height. You are not going to find a 10 ply tire in a 22 with street tread. The only 22 you will get in an 8 or 10 ply will be an allterrain or offroad tire i.e, Nitto Terra Grappler, Toyo Open Country, or Yokohama Geolander.

Allterrains would be alright. Do yuo have any pictures of truck you have done with the 305 and 255 setups?

This truck must have 255/70/22.5's with torsion bars cranked?

I dont have any Chevy 4x4s with the 305/45s on them but here is a pic of a Dodge that we did a few years ago.

Most of the Chevy trucks we do are lowered or getting 24s and I rarely do a Chevy with a 22.5 on it unless it has 12" of lift on it.

Here is a link to some of my customer pictures, if you want to browse some pics of different options.
