A guy at work has a 6 lug 3/4 ton truck that he said he'd let go cheap to get it out of his way. I'm talking $200 bucks. Runs/drives. 4x4. Would the drums and hubs off of my 99 1 ton bolt on to this rear end to convert it to 8 lug? It's a 90 model chevy. I'm using a couple of other parts off of the truck for something else, I just didn't know if I could use it for a rearend swap to clear for semi's. Thanks in advance for the help.

Light duty 3/4 tons are Semi floating 14 bolts. You could swap 8 lug axles in it, but not the hubs from your one ton. You can buy regular 3/4 ton rears for $250 on average.

And have a stronger axle.

That's what I figured. Oh well, I've already doubled my money on the motor and transfer case. Thanks for the info.

Sell that 6 lug 14 bolt 4x4 rear end for $500 and you're winning...in most places they're in big demand. 8 lug isn't so hard to find. You get guys with 4x4 1500's that want a stronger rear than that pos 10 bolt, and the 6 lug 14 bolt is the ticket.
