So this weekend in an effort to two kill two birds with one stone, get oil changes for the family trucks and get my son, 16, working on trucks. I offer him 10 bucks a truck to change oil. Now he has done it once before on his one under my close supervision, yet this time I wanted him to do it. I only pointed and walked him through the first, my shitbox. He did a great job, no problems no leaks. So i bolted to the shop to get 25Cent (the square duece) while he changed the oil on his truck. By the time I got back he was finished, of course I did have to stop and pick up some johnny cat. Anyway, he lets the duece cool and him and his buddy goto it. Well upon putting the plug in (yes you know where this is going) he gets it cross threaded, and gorillas it, snap, now it just sits and spins feely in the pan. We've all done it...I guess it was his lesson.
By this time I am already on the hawg for date night. So I get a call and tell him to pull the pan, i got an extra. Of course, he cant get all the bolts. I told him Id handle it in the am.
So this am i finish pullen the and notice the nutt on the inside the pan , has broke lose of the pan. We take it off, straighten and clean the threads and weld it back on, test it, and bolt the pan up.
Morale of the story.... none... no one ever really gets out of work.....
oh yeah, i screwed so much stuff up at first. But I shoulda made him finish the pan, instead of doing it myself. Too little time....
