i just pulled an 85 ranger 2.0 out of the field. we've tried starting it, it fires but won't turn over. we replaced the fuel filter and fuel pump, and there is still no fuel getting to the carb...for that matter, i dont have any coming from the pump either. any ideas?

This might be a dumb question but is anything clogging up the fuel lines? And I am assuming you put fresh gas in it? And do you here the pump cutting on when you turn the key?

i was going to take a look at all the lines tomorrow, that might be the whats wrong with it.

the fuel pump should be good. its brand new, if i replace the lines and it still doesn't pump i'll be taking it back to get a new one.

thanks for the suggestions

Be sure to check the simple things first. I am sure you already did this but check the fuel pump fuse.

^^^^^Thats exactly what I was thinking the whole time reading this.

Try pulling the pump off but leave the inlet line on. Pump the pump manually by hand quite a few times. It helps get fuel going better than just turning the motor over. If you still arent getting fuel, disconnect the line at the fuel filter and blow air through the line backwards. Thatll show you for sure if the line is clogged. Sometimes you can get lucky and spraying carb cleaner in it and letting it sit will loosen up the garnished fuel and try blowing it out again. otherwise replace the fuel lines or try your luck with bailing wire.

would i be better off just replacing the fuel tank with a fuel cell and running new lines?
