i read somewhere that someone said to stay away from the 8 to 10 adapters made from aluminum. Why? Alum would be soO much lighter, and hell the wheels are aluminum...why cant the adapters be??? Plus our trucks aint puttin that much weight on em. Any ideas?
I hate the power loss from my 22s. Maken me nutts.

Because the will break!!!!
I dont think a 13' adaptor is gonna make that much of a difference(going from steel to aluminum) in power loss.
The wheels themselves its probably your power loss...
Safety is the key here, for yourself and OTHERS

Its not the adapters losing the power, its the wheels. Weight close to the center doesn't have much affect but all of the weight on the outside does. Even when you plus size up like say on my yukon, stock 16's then I put factory 20's on it same outside diameter. The 16's had the weight distributed pretty evenly from the center to the outside, but then on the 20's all of the weight is on the outside and it hurts performance and even worse the braking.

It is more the wheels than the adapters.
If you were to go with aluminum adapters instead of steel (not recomended) you will only save around 20lbs or so per wheel. Our steel adapters weigh 36lbs each dressed with all of the lugs and studs. The aluminum ones some companies have tried to sale me have been around 15lbs with out any lugnuts on them and they were 2.5" thick instead of the 1" we use.
The most common failure of the aluminum adapters is the lug studs pulling through the aluminum and oblonging the holes, therefore causing the wheels to wobble, and eventually break off the vehicle.

Thanks for the info. I figured the additional weight of everything was slowing the truck up, just thought thought that would be one area we could save weight. thanks again.

"Adapter from chromewheel.com broke, just another reason we stopped selling his JUNK..."
Those guys are here in H-town aren't they? They advertise wheels on craigslist sometimes. I bought some parts from a neighbor of theirs, guys didn't have much good to say about 'em.
