has anyone seen or done this. want to dye my factory gray carpet black, saw it on tv one day on a car and was wondering if this is a good idea rather than buying new carpet. my carpet is in great shape so if i can change the color that would be perfect. thanks, ryan

I did the same with my eclipse carpet too. It
was grey...I went to Walmart & got some vinyl
paint in the cans & sprayed it black. I took the carpet out of my car, cleaned it & then sprayed it out in the open. It turned out nice & im happy with it.

does it not come out clumpy or make the carpet feel really rough?

did you all take out the carpet then do it. or what about taking everything out and leaving the carpet in the spraying. can always leave the truck in the garage with doors open to dry. whats easier. what did you all use to clean first. if you clean first, did you wait for it to dry the dye it or what. thanks

I took my carpet out & did it all outside...it will dry alot faster this way & you dont have to worry about choking on fumes
as well too. As for cleaning the carpet I vaccumed it then used some purple stuff to clean out any stains & grease. I let it dry overnite & then dyed it the next day. I just
think its easier to do it all when the carpet
is out the vehicle & you dont have to worry about over spray & fumes!

we keep the carpet in the car but then again we just spot dye. shampoo the carpet first then dye it we use sem dye.
