no matter what route you go, whenever i'm giving someone a break, i never buy my own lunch or drink my own beer
actually i've done a lot of work for dirt cheap or free, just because i like having people in my pocket...like whenever i need to take a bed on or off or anything like that; i've ALWAYS got people who i can call because they "owe me" for lack of a better word.
work for work has always worked out for me. i had a guy put in a kitchen & bathroom in my old house for a paint job & everywhere i called wanted nearly 10 grand in labor for it.
surely the kid has some kind of skill you can use him for (if nothing else...manual labor). hell if he works at a fast food joint, FREE EATS on those drunken nights goes a long way.

I'd make him help, so he learns something. Even though it will take you longer. Lol. And the rule of thumb is "Your ride, you do the bitch work." Which means you don't have to grind all that shit down, or cut out gussets or tabs or whatever. Unless he really sucks at cutting things out. I ran into that once and he has been banned from cutting anything out.
