hey guys... i want to be fair to this guy who needs some help with a shitty bag job someone did.... this kids nissan hardbody was done horribly wrong and is in need of repair... i am going to basically cut the old work out.. replate the frame... put some new bag brackets on there and support it by connecting the two brackets. basic job for the most part.. just dont know what the kid to give me for doing it. he brought it to me yesterday and i told him we would talk sometimes this week after i took a look at everything.. heres a picture of the damage.
its like that on both sides

Thats hard, I know. You want to help him out so it is road worthy because if the price is too high he might say screw it and drive until it kills someone. But you also need to be paid for your time and make something. I would charge for a basic bag job with a little bit of a discount. Good Luck making a decision.

Cut him a hell of a deal and make him sweep your floors and clean up your shop for a couple of weeks. Let him work some of it off.

I like Adams idea, but I say charge for the material and a little for your pocket. Just make it safe, as mini truckers we have to look out for each other and to let someone drive around with something that we now know is unsafe makes us wrong. I am not saying do it for free, but if there was not a person out there that never gave us a break we would not be where we are today, that's my 2 cents.

parts+100+2 weeks bitch work sounds fair IMO. atleast make him buy you lunch when your working on it if you dont have a "shop" for him to do bitch work in. That's a job that HAS to be fixed....

thats is about 4 maybe 5 hours total work, 50 bucks an hour for labor.. so tell him you could charge him 250 for repairs, or 100 bucks for your tiem, or clean your work area, or share his sister, whatever, but just fix it and make it look decent, you will most likely get more work from him. be fair, dont be a d*ck, every one has to learn somewhere..

I'd charge 250 that includes matterials. It may seem like a lot to him but hell he went the cheap way before and look what he got. I'm guessing your just doing the top of the rear bags. You could do that in a day. So 250 minus atmost 75 dollars in parts. You come out making 175 dollars on a honest days work.
