Question about hookin up a monitor

I have a legacy 5.6" monitor layin around so I want to run it through my dual flip out monitor. I wanted to test the legacy to see if it still worked. Here's my problem, I hooked everythin up and when I turn the power on to the legacy monitor, the picture looks like when you would rewind a tape. is the monitor trash, or is there somethin I'm not doin right? Thanks!

sounds like the ribbon cable is fucked. try another video cable.
