i have a 96 4 door dually and the brakes up front i think drag. if i drive it a while they will smoke. i greased up the bolts that hold on the bakes. and that worked for a few days with no smokin. is it possible i didnt use high temp grease and the grease i use burned off or something? please help me out cause i have to figure this out by indy. please help!!!!!!
have you tried brake booster and master cylinder that could be the cause i worked on a durango that did that and that was the cause
your calipers might be shot ...smae thing happened on my astro...come to find out my wife put power steering fluid in the brake master.....had to replace both calipers
Could be;
A caliper that drags, but from a binding piston, and not the slider bolts. I had that happen when the truck would get hot only.
Or
From a bad brake line. I have seen more than one factory (the flexible black) brake line collapse inside and cause the brakes to bind.
I would jack up the truck, then hit the brakes and see if the wheels spin with the same resistance.
good luck.
more than likly the caliper.gm had a problem with there calipers in the early to mid 90's with corosion building up on the pistons in the calipers.if you did grease the slider bolts use a good high temp grease.can i take a guess at witch side is the problem i would say passanger side mine always was that side
