OK ...I am search for an electric tailgate setup for my dually, wife used it to drop off some chairs and pick up some stuff from the store...of course they slam the gate open(shaved handle) and slam it shut again.these trucks have cable issues.
want something like this

Seen one some where, with motor that is not visible....

thats nuttin more than a liniar actuator operated by a remote and a solenoid for the locking mecanism can be any alarm remote with an extra channel i guess .
to make it invissible put a little puley inside a hole in the back of the bed bed where the holdcable normaly atadges and use a long cable to the actuator hidden in the side of the bed this should be quite stealty .
you need a spring to give the lid the first push open though

lmao that is what i was gonna say, lmao.. that would be easy to fab up.. or you could go as far as to tear the inside of the tailgate apart and use the linear actuator and some cable and pulleys hidden inside the tailgate

^^^These guys don't know what they are talking about.

To do it right you need 7 airbags in a parallel cantilever setup. It will probably have to be under the bed with the actuating rod going through the cab. If you run a flatulater valve you should be able to get by with just 3 but if you run the standard air valves you will need 13.5 of them. 2200 psi should work good for it. If you have any more questions on how this works pm and I'll call you an idiot in private.

Never heard of those? They work on a solids based system bleeding off excess pressure from the breakdown of said solids.

I switched my cables over to the older style flat bars. I think they still ran those in the earliest c/k series. I got mine off like an 88. The strap do suck on all chevys, they use steel cable then rubber coat it, water gets in and rots the cables out in no time. I was loading a 250 quad in the back of mine and both straps broke, fked up my tailgate and rollpan, probably will cost me $1000 bucks to fix it.
