all a 383 stroker is.. is a350 with a 400 crankshaft basically .. a few other things but oil and stuff is the same
Yeah, a 383 still is a 350 on the outside. A cool swap would be like an LT1, or even just a TPI. Something that isn't the standard. An oldschool 283 would be sweet. Or go crazy and put a nailhead in it..
or he could just put a standard 350 in it and say its a 383... no one would everr know.. sneeky sneeky

i don't even know what a nailhead or flathead are. What i really want to do is put a 427 in there but that's a freakin pipe dream.

My buddy has a 350 in a 2nd gen with a 3.5" BD The headers are a bitch with the steering shaft and you will need tubular upper arms for sure.
he also has a small cowl to clear. he had to use the ugly triangle Enelbrock air cleaner cuz a 10" round would hit the cowl.
A TPI would fit with a stock hood as it is not as tall as a carb setup.
