If you were trying to machine a bore for the race on a tapered bearing that was to be pressed in..would you go line on line or a thou under.

depends on what the press is.

with the unijoint cups we make for our control arms, they call for a half thousands press on each side, then secured in with a snap ring. So, i machine the cup to an overall diamiater of a thousandth under size, which is a half thousandth on each side.....

go a thou under overall, which would make a half thousandth on each side.

but when in doubt, call the mfg, and get the specks!

ok im trying to design a center pivot piece like totally polished did because they cant answer their phones.

are you using an s10 wheel bearing?

no i actually picked up a trailer bearing from timken

1" shaft size and 1.98" od of the race. .58" overall height of the assembled unit

its 10 from center to center of the bar mounting holes to tall for a watts?

Here is a jpeg of my assembly, Im using 5/8" bolts on the heims and im debating if i want to use a machined and polished post for the bearings to ride on, a modified trailer axle, or 1" shoulder bolt.



if anyone wants a zipped copy of it to play with in solidworks let me know.
