the cars that run here are fitted with electric fans out of the factory and we see little problems with them .
the only thing that ocasionally happens is that the termostat is going south the engine overheats and giving off a geiser when youre not paying atention when that happens but a paperclip across the defective thermostad usually gets them home .
the bigger fans that people usually run in american cars do draw a lot of amps so use thicl wiring and look carefully if the electric system is charging enough

I'm running to 16" zirgo blu fans that are rated at 3500cfm's each and they work like a charm! I think the longest time I have heard them cut on was for about 1.5-2 min and I keep the temp at around 200 deg. winter time they never cut on (all the other cooling parts are stock)

watahyahknow is right! you have to wire them right. I have each fan on its own relay and fuse that then run to the main relay and fuse that is kicked on by a digital fan switch and he!! it has it own relay so with all that and the larger ga. wire if one fan was to go south on me the other would keep on working( I hope)!?

i have the flex-a-lite one on my truck that is vehicle specific. i bolted right in and works good. i just have it wired to where they run all the time when the truck is on. it comes with all the wiring and everything you need to put it in too.

I could be wrong but the zirgo blu have the highest cfm's in the 16" class?
a total of 7000cfm is more than enough to keep the bbc cool. to add to the wiring when the ac is on the fans kick on as well so the temp of the engine never gets over 190 deg and that was with an out side temp of 104.
