speedometer / odometer question

my speedometer is reading fast i.e. if it says im going 25 im really going about 35. My question is, since the speedometer is reading fast, will that make the miles on my odometer turn faster? Autometer mechanical speedometer.

any way to correct it? its on a th 350 chevy transmission cable drive into a mechanical autometere speedometer.

If it says you're going 25 when you're going 35 it's reading slow, not fast. And that's a big difference at 35mph. I bet it's way off at highway speeds. With everything mechanical, the only way to correct it is to change the speedo drive gear in the tranny, if you want to keep the same gears in the rearend and wheel/tire combo.

do you have the right gear for the speedo cable?
