Hey guys, I haven't started my 97 ranger up in months. I havn't had much time to work on it this year. Now that I can work on it, it won't start. I am concerned that maybe the gasoline isn't gas anymore. It has electrical power but when I turn the key it won't turn over and just makes repetative clicking sound. Can anyone help me figure out how to fix it?

BEHIND THE KICK PANEL ON YOUR PASSENGER SIDE THERE IS A RED BUTTON CALLED YOUR INERTIA SWITCH -- IT MAY HAVE WENT OFF -- PRESS IT BACK IN AND THEN TRY CRANKING YOUR TRUCK UP --- HOPE THAT HELPS IF NOT -- IM STUPID AND I DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT ENGINES EITHER ---

it would take a really long time for the gas to go bad - even if you have shitty gas it would stiull start up and run un;ess theres a shitload of water in your tank or something. tim is right bout the red button tho - usually what happens w/ rangers.

oh, and also why dont you make sure that your battery is fully charged and if thats good, then move to the starter to make sure thats good - also if youve been cranking and cranking on it it may have gone into hydrostatic lock, i think thats what its called - where the engine is so full of gas and oil that the engine wont turn over, take out a spark plug near the front ans crank it and see if it spits gas. You'd have to really crank for a LONG time for that to happen. Sounds like a battery to me tho

my 94 ranger did the same thing, once it was a low battery, the other time it was the started solenoid, but boost your truck and see if it cranks atleast

thanks for the input guys. It wasn't that inertia switch, its not the battery either. I'm going to try a few more things. Feel free to continue with the input. I appreciate it.

theres also a maxifuse in between the starter and the fusebox, also check you engine bay fuses and take your starter out and hold it down "fingers away from the gears and hook up power to it and see if it spins.
