check valve question

where's the best place to put them (bag wise)? I was thinking right off the tank port, would that be ok or should i do it closer to the valves, or between the valves and the bag? Also, if i run water traps, should i run them before or after the check valves?

i ran my water trap after the compressors before the air makes it to the tank. it also doubles as my check valve to keep the high psi from flowing back into my compressors.

ive seen people mount check valves off of the port. there isnt any difference if you put them off the port or up in the line some where before the bag. if your running 8 valves, i dont really see a need to run check valve except between the compressors and tank. as long as your running nitrogen or have a p.s. to kick your compressors on when the psi get low it should be fine. either way though.

well, i was just thinking if i blew a bag or something, the other three corners should stay up if i had check valves, and both of my comps have an inline check valve.

i was going to mount mine as close to the bag as possible. if you drag thru an air line you will be safer

anyone know if i need to run water traps before or after check valves?

i would put them right before your fill valve, that way if you loose tank pressure or get a hole in your line before your valve you wont drop it tryin to lift (had it happen to me before it sucks) and you wont need any extra water traps for check valves

yeah, but i don't have any water traps at all yet, i'm wondering if the check valves will get messed up if the water and rust from the tank go through them, hence traps before or after check valves.

never really thought of it like that...good point.

i would run the water trap before the check valve to trap the water before passing through the check valve. but if you run water traps, im pretty sure they have built in check valves in them...could you just use those to get the same thing without using actual check valves. but then again, if you running more than 150 psi, the water trap i have wont hold up that much psi...i think the one i have is good to 135 but i run 145 to it.

im kinda confused now, if you have a water trap at the compressors. (between the tank and compressors) it traps a lot of water on my system. i dont have any other traps other than the ones at my compressors so is there still water and stuff going to my bags? is there really a need to run water traps at each port before the valves? cause i only have one right now and it traps a good amount of water as is.

i was told by russd (who is supposed to know damn near everything about minitruckin) that water traps before the tank don't really do much good because most of the water comes from the compressed air expanding in the tank and condensing when it cools. According to him, if you run a water trap before the tank, you only get 20% or so of the water that goes through your system. I really hope i did'nt waste money on 4 check valves (that i ordered 5 months ago and are just now getting to put in). By the way, Jeff, i don't have any water traps at all right now, i just want to get it set up right this time so i don't have to tear into the airline system anymore. When i first bagged it, i had no idea about any of this, and i had no problems (except my back valves are under my notch cover, they have mufflers on them, and i noticed they were going down real slow and were completely silent. When i took my notch cover off, there were 2 huge rust spots where the valves were blowing water and rust onto the bottom of the cover, dripping back down into the mufflers and stopping them up). Course, i only drove it 4 months out of the 3 1/2 years it's been bagged...
