If you had to choose is a 454 just as good for pulling as a 7.3 powerstsoke? Aslo what kind of mileage to expect from 454 towing?

aside from what pig says you will be better off with the diesel. expect at least 15mpg unloaded with the diesel and be lucky to get 12 with the gas

yea for pulling i prefer a diesel.. i have a 454 in the green dually and the fuel mileage is not near as good as the 7.3 powerstroke i got in the daily ford.

i have had both and they both pull good, but i think the power stroke is better.

And if pulling a lot the 454 will only last maybe 150,000 the powerstroke will go over 250,000. I've even seen 350,000 in trucks that pull constantly.

We are friends with some car dealers than haul cars all around the country. That's all they will use. He just sold his 2000 for like 21k and it had 278,000 on it. He didn't want to sell it but some guy kept coming around and finally made him an offer he couldn't refuse.

diesel is definately the way for pulling and its a toss up for everyday... big thing is cost of parts and such is a thing to think about

Yup. Costs a lot of $ when something on a Diesel goes south.
