best size sliding rag for 99 s10 ext cab

the subject says it all, what's the best size? Is there a difference between vinyl and canvas? Does the optional headliner really make that much of a difference? I've just about decided to ditch the a/c, so i'd like a sliding rag to cool my fat ass off some. Please help with the questions. thanks in advance.
