Well last night I went to change her oil to find out after I drained it she bought the wrong oil. So I put the filter on and just left it in the garage, figuring I would just go buy some today and she would just drive my truck to work.
Well this morning she started it with the remote start, my buddy was sleeping on the couch and he told her to shut it off right away. So she hit the button on the remote which should of shut it off, but of course it didn't. He ran down to the garage to check it out and it was still running, he couldn't get in so he came back up to the house for the door code, went back down and shut it down. So it ran for a good 5 minutes. How bad can it be? It has 115000 miles on it already. It is an 02 5.3 flex fuel, if that matters.
The worst part is I have to leave friday to drive across the country in it.
Any suggestions?

get some oil in it, and crank it and see what happens, how long did you let it drain before you put the plug back in it.. chances are that all the internals still had some oil on them and should be ok...

5 mins . I don't think I agree with EC on this one. It may run alright but I bet she is going to start burning oil know. I bet you scored the cylinder walls. I just don't think it's going to be good.
Sorry.

It drained for awhile while I checked all the other fluids underneath it.

i am not saying i am completely right, but i know that some of the groves and corners will hold oil,, do you run syntehtic oil in the motor at all? but there may be a chance on that my friend ran his for about a week with lil to no oil in it and then went and got a oil chnage cause the guy at the oil chnage place pulled the plug and it just dripped out hardly none came out, they serviced it and it has been fine since then... last chnage he wsas like maybe 1/4 of a quart low, but that could be just from heat and disapation... typical oil burn off.. againi am not syaing i am right.. but there is just a good chance that there is no damage .. who knows run some good thick oil 40 weight or some synthetic and just crank it and let it run and see what happens..

I guess you'll find out.
That sucks. Should have disconnected the battery, or somethin'.*

I just might. If you wouldn't mind helpin a DS brother out, would you send me your # just in case we got problems around your area? I hope we don't need it but it would be nice to have some connections along the way just in case.
I always run just regular 5/30 in her. Engine is as clean as the day it was on the lot, never burnt oil, no leaks, just makes me so mad at myself for letting it happen. If it was on its way out then it would be better.
Does anyone know what would need to be changed to put a non flex fuel engine in it as mine was flex fuel? The bone yard said just injectors and fuel rail need to be switched, but would also like a second opinion.
Thanks for all the help.
