powder coat pics

im thinking about doing my spindles with that chrome kind of powder coat. Anyone got any tips or comments about this stuff?

In my experience the chrome powdercoat is a bit softer than other coatings, but works well as a base coat.

Also, it doesn't really look like chrome, kind of a cheap silver. I think a nice metallic silver looks much better.

And, I can't recommend Chris Hartsells work from my own personal experience, if you were thinking of sending ti to him.

try ceramic coating, or jet hot coating, that is what I did with my spindles, brake rotors, and exhaust, it stands up to heat and doesnt discolor, but it is not quite as shiny as chrome.

The powdercoater that i go to up here, he has a powder that really really resembles lightly polished aluminum. But its got to be on a smooth finished item, like a cast spindle without taking the time to grind it smooth, it will come out looking shitty.


Another good idea is that new "chrome" paint from SEM products i think.....I got a chance to see that in person the other day and i was SUPER suprised, it looked great, and really closely resembled chrome, it would be soft tho.

by far your best option would be to just get them chromed. I was able to do a set of spindles for 80$ at a chrome shop near me....., their prices seemed far below most other places tho, because im taking all of my suspension stuff thare, and they only quoted me 300$ for all that i need done....it was only 50$ more than powdercoat.

just get them chromed i was going to do the same thing and get all my pieces powder coated in chrome but even the powder coater said dont cause the chrome will fade and look like shit.

like they said, that "chrome powdercoat" looks cheap and just like a silver powdercoat. My buddy did it to his spindles and calipers and IMO is looked like s**t. I would honestly try real chrome or just a different color of powder coat. Dont waste your money on it!

yea my suspension is the "near" chrome color too and it just looks cheezy
