ok I just spent a grip on a chop saw that said it can cut thick rectangular tubing and when it gets here the owners manual shows cutting the stuff at a 45 degree angle. The vise on the base wont tighten up to hold rectangle tubing at a 45, it just pops it over.

I was wondering if anyone had a metal blade saw and cut their rectangle tubing on the flat, not 45 degrees. I paid too damn much for this thing to use it just for round or thinwall.

Its the revolution raptor 355, there is a video on tricktools.com of it cutting round tube in like 2 seconds.

I had the same problem with my chop saw, although it isnt a metal blade on mine. I ended up using clamps to hold the tubing where i needed it, kinda funky but it still worked.

i bought a Jet horizontal/vertical bandsaw for 250 and it was just as much as the chop saw i wanted but it cuts soooo much cleaner and accurate.

I bought a Dewalt metal blade saw about 2 years ago, and it's awesome. I will never go back to a abraisive saw again. Well work the extra 200 bucks. I use the 355m evolution blades, and we cut rectanglur tubing on a daily basis. Even sometimes 5x5 3/8 tubing and sometimes 6" round pipe, with no problems. A blade usually lasts me about 5 months, and thats with everyday use. The trick is let the blade do the work, don't push on it. And watch out for the shavings they are hot and sharp, and will stick in your skin. Saftey glasses are a must....If you have any questions about it you can call me at 512-809-1854.

Oh and as far as accurate cuts, It doesn't walk at all. And the good thing is the blade never gets smaller so you can cut bigger tubing everytime without the blade being to small to cut all the way through.

saw

there is the link to the saw and video.

Thanks Jesse, I know to go slow and not have any sparks or heat at all on the blade, I just didnt want to rock around on an angle piece of rectangular tube.

This thing is so bad ass, I wish I could cut all thread with it though, gotta keep an abrasive saw for that.

I've cut all thread with it before?.. No reason why not. I cut 3/8 solid stock with it all the time.

people have told me that small round solid stuff likes to jump and bend the blade. Thats a 75 dollar risk...
