adjustable four link question

i had my truck in the shop the other day getting some brake work done. the guy there told me that all of the nuts on my four link were loose, so he tightened them. I have the SD adjustable four link bars on my truck. will that affect the bar length or throw them off at all, or does that not matter since they are bolted in anyway? Should I leave them tightened or loosen them any? sorry, im still learning all this stuff...

How does your truck seem to be riding? How does your pinion angle look at ride height?

Well it will only be able to turn itself out as far as the hiem joint will allow since the tabs hold it in place. Unless both ends have spun loose and its vibrating so much that its loosening the bar itself. I would say keep it tightened. Just cause riding with loosened bolts/link ends will wear on the threads and eventually strip them out. Which is definitely not something you want on a link. If its not capable of making a complete revolution or hasnt made a complete revolution tighten everything up and get a little paint pen and put a small mark across the bars/nuts just to kinda help as a reference in the future to checkin the link.

the truck rides fine. i had it bagged by a shop almost a year ago, so i don't know how long they have been loose before i took it in the other day. im not familiar enough with the pinion angle to know what its supposed to look like. so i guess i'll just leave them tightened like Modifyd said. could they have changed in length by being tightened like that? how can i make sure they are all tightened the same amount and are the right length?

well, since only one bar end is adjustable and both ends are bolted in, the end can't really unthread itself, just the jam nut can come loose.

Biggest thing i would check for is if your pinion angle is strait at "ride height". This means your Pumpkin(on your rear axle) is pointing strait towards the front of the truck along with your drive shaft and not pointed up or down. Sounds like your fine though

i sure it was just the jam nut that backed off. if he tightend them there should be no problem.

sounds like the jam nut was loose. those need to be tightened or you risk the rod ends stripping out. Jam nuts should have some lock tight on them.

don't worry about it too much. keep them tight, but i'm going to assume it's from hitting sides. if that's the case it's because the bushings only give so much & after that the tortional flex of the link (twisting) will break it loose.

thanks everyone for the help, i don't hit sides much so im not sure if thats what backed the nuts off, but i was also wondering what kind of damage it does hitting sides since i just have regular bar ends and not super pivots or whatever?
