We do alot of ss enclosures and the best way we have found to do it is to start with a DA sander and finish up by hand with some scotch-brite. Its a pain, but it turns out nice.

the reason it looks so beat up is because it sat outsise in the weather for atleast 2 years. i tryed the steel wool and it looks ok from a diffrent angles and others still look like sh*t! like this will work but it needs the sandpaper. what grit should i use?i did the work a bit last night and i took the pics this morrningwhat grit sandpaper and what kind on sander? i have a palm sander and a larger vibrating one.

wetsand it with two twenty then move to four hundred then scotchbrite.Use the darker scotchbrite I think it works better. If you have really deep scratches da them out with 180grit dry. Also when you sand do it so the scratches go in one direction as straight as you can sand.
