Cutting rockers off......

I am fixing to cut my rockers off within the next week or so. I'm going to plate the bottom of the rockers with 1/4 to drag proof it a little. Should I cut a small piece off and plate it and then another small piece and plate it or can I cut the whole rocker off and then put one solid piece on it. I would like to cut it all the way off and go with one solid piece but I don't want my cab to get out of wack at all. Any input is very helpful. Thanks

I cut mine completely off and welded 1/4 x 2.5 wide all the way down..worked fine for me...

i cut mine completly off and welded them back with 3/8 plate, cab is still fine,
