have you pulled the plugs out and checked those? its a different truck all together but my toyota was doing something similar to your discription it would sputter really bad and sometimes die, or coming up to a stopsign it would die. it turned out to be that the plugs were bad...once i replaced them, it ran like a champ. just a suggestion, it doesnt take much to look at a spark plug...at least its a lot easier to get to than an injector. good luck

i had that same problem with my 90 with the 2.9L and it was the Idle Air Control Valve and 2 of the injectors were so dirty they weren't spraying....you can clean the Idle Air Control Valve with throtle body cleaner but it will only last a few months. better to replace it...and with the injectors you can take them out and take them to an injectory shop or to a carb shop and they can be cleaned and re calabrated usualy cost between 25 and 40 per injector depending on where you take them.

TPS = Throttle Position Sensor. Your Truck is OBD 1 So i doubt the scanner you have will pull the codes if u have a 92, Maybe you have to look at the flashey lights? =)Usually on the older vehicles you have to hook jumpers up and all that crazy shit to make the OBDII scanner work, and if u have a generic one say from autozone or whatever you might not be able or have the proper cartridges to do this. Just sayin...

it depends on whats scanner he has if itll read obd I. sounds to me either the mass air flow sensor is prob the culprit.
